British Potato 2022 Show Directory now available online

November 15, 2021

The Show Directory for this year’s British Potato trade show in Harrogate, UK, is now available online.

On November 24 and 25, European exhibitors and visitors will be setting aside Covid-19 challenges to make the most of opportunities at this year’s British Potato trade show. The event’s recently published Online Show Directory shows that, with a record number of exhibitors, every single part of the industry from seed to supermarket is covered.

Peace of mind

In the foreword of the Directory, the organisation makes it clear that ‘of course’ this year’s edition of British Potato will be a bit different, pointing at the Covid-19-situation. ‘Our approach isn’t to ignore this, or just whisper about it and hope for the best. We all want peace of mind. So, we’re being very upfront in explaining how we’re delivering this’, the organisation states, pointing the reader to a full page of information summarizing how the show is being delivered to the very highest standards. ‘We’re implementing agreed best practice from the outset. Our approach is this is better, safer and far less chaotic than scrambling to introduce changes late on if circumstances change’, the page reads.

Keeping up to date

Earlier on, organiser Steve Wellbeloved told PotatoWorld magazine that the potato industry has made it clear it wants the British Potato event to happen. ‘We saw strong growth in attendance from mainland Europe at the last show and understood this was partly a response to Brexit uncertainties, with mainland Europe-based companies wanting to maintain valuable supply links into the major UK potato market. Similarly, overseas visitors were also keen to keep up-to-date on new products and services being pioneered in the UK’, he said. ‘Those Brexit-related motivations are still common, but this year there’s the added factor that so many other opportunities to see developments at first hand have been lost due to Covid-19. Also, while the potato industry is increasingly vertically integrated, many shows focus just on production, or separately on, say, product packaging. In contrast, this show has evolved to cover the whole supply chain from basic crop research through to supermarket presentation’, Wellbeloved added.
