Complete cropping marketing programmes provide the Italian market with new élan

Just above the Italian ‘heel’ is the region of Puglia. This region is known for the church where the Holy Saint Nicolas is buried, for vineyards with the famous Primitivo grape, and for the early potato harvest. Old varieties such as Nicola, Spunta and Sieglinde that are grown for the free market are increasingly disappearing from the podium. Their place is being taken up by new varieties with complete cultivation and marketing programmes. A good example is the Actrice variety sold by trading company Agroplant in the Dutch village of Medemblik.
