In the potato chain, marketing programmes can be organised in different ways. A well-known programme in the Netherlands is the pool agreement, a contract between grower and trader. Characteristic in this programme is that the trader’s success in the market of supply and demand determines the grower’s financial result. I recently learned about a different programme in Italy. The Italian company Marmocchi Angiolino wants to arrange agreements within the chain in order to be able to sell table potatoes of the Actrice variety, which stand out as regards quality and taste.
