Jaap DellemanI remember very clearly the moment 25 years ago that I started to work as a journalist for Potato World. Having just completed my studies at Agricultural College, I was immediately allowed to help think, write and take pictures (black-and-white) in a potato sector that was then changing in a revolutionary way. From that moment, Dutch seed potato export and potato processing took on a huge, unstoppable momentum. While the Bintje was the biggest variety in Europe in those days, an impressive number of names have now been added among which the over 100-year-old Bintje is slowly fading away.
