‘We don’t want to be the people that can do it cheaper than anyone else’

Since quite recently, Frank Franzen (40) from the village of Dirksland has been packaging and exporting the potatoes grown at his 400-hectare crop farm himself. Last season was the real moment of truth. ‘We don’t want to be the people that can do it cheaper than anyone else. Faraway countries are also focused on quality.’ He succeeded in packaging and shipping 9,000 tons, but that didn’t happen without a few knocks. ‘All in all, it was definitely a difficult time. And yet, I have no regrets. I’ve been able to build up valuable relationships,’ the true-born entrepreneur concludes.
