India is on the threshold of large-scale potato mechanisation

Scientists estimate that in the year 2050 India will be the most populated country in the world. Last year, India had 1.25 billion inhabitants who now consume on average 36.22 kilograms of potatoes per head of the population. That was still only 20.98 kilograms in 2001.

Scientists estimate that in the year 2050 India will be the most populated country in the world. Last year, India had 1.25 billion inhabitants who now consume on average 36.22 kilograms of potatoes per head of the population. That was still only 20.98 kilograms in 2001. Potato consumption has increased tremendously in a relatively short period of time. As India is fully self-sustaining and potatoes cannot be imported, the potato acreage has expanded enormously.
