Centennial-celebrating Meijer Potato builds on the potential of the potato

September 2020

On 20 September 2020, it will be one hundred years ago that the first boat carrying potatoes from trader and exporter Kees Meijer senior was loaded. A century later, through internationalisation and diversification, his trading company has evolved into a modern potato breeding company, based in Rilland. This is where Erika den Daas (55), as director has been in charge for almost three years now. After a crisis period in the year 2014, due to an infection by the PSTVD viroid, the company is now firmly back on the road again with a new corporate identity and company vision according to Den Daas. ‘We’ve now made a clear mark with our mission statement “Everybody deserves to enjoy food”.’ That’s why, from now on, we’ll present ourselves under the name Meijer Potato, with the tagline: “Building on Potential”.’
