Russian agriculture makes U-turn towards self-sufficiency

‘In order to become self-sufficient in supplying food for over 140 million inhabitants, the Russian government has stimulated investors with various subsidy programmes,’ says Wytse Oosterbaan of the APH Group in Heerenveen (in the Dutch province of Friesland). He explains that this development has led to the country currently undergoing a turnaround from cultivation to modern packaging, also in the potato sector.
