Foodera Technologies brings five potato processing specialists together

June 30, 2026

Consolidation in the potato processing industry is no longer limited to processors alone. Equipment suppliers are also scaling up to meet the demands of larger and increasingly complex production operations. The launch of Foodera Technologies is the latest example.

Under the new corporate identity, five established technology brands have been brought together, Kiremko, Tummers Group, Van der Giessen, Idaho Steel and Reyco Systems. The combination marks a new consolidation move in a sector where scale, automation and sustainability are becoming increasingly important.

New scale in procestechnology

The new group generates combined annual revenues of around €400 million and operates across Europe, North America and South Asia. This creates a company capable of serving nearly the entire potato processing chain, from product handling and transport to complete French fry and potato flake production lines.

The foundation for Foodera was laid in 2025, when an investment company affiliated with Investindustrial brought Kiremko, Idaho Steel and Reyco under one umbrella. With the recent acquisition of Tummers Group and Van der Giessen, that strategy has moved a step further. Where Kiremko is known for complete French fry processing lines, Tummers has built a strong position in potato flakes, drying technology and industrial system integration. Van der Giessen adds expertise in installation and on site service.

Individual identity remains intact

Erwin Tummers (r) and Lennaert van Dijk see new growth opportunities in Foodera, while the identity of Tummers and Van der Giessen is preserved.

According to Erwin Tummers and Lennaert van Dijk, joining the new group creates opportunities without losing the DNA of the individual companies. They emphasise that Tummers has always been built on engineering expertise, customer commitment and practical innovation, while Van der Giessen is known for installation and service on site. The combination, they say, creates new opportunities for both employees and customers while preserving the values, relationships and technical strengths that made the businesses successful.

The merger reflects a broader trend in potato processing equipment. Processors increasingly look for complete turnkey solutions rather than standalone machines. At the same time, pressure is growing to use energy, water and raw materials more efficiently. Investments in heat recovery, water reuse and further automation are becoming strategic priorities for many processors.

Focus on innovation

According to Gerardo Chiaia, CEO of the group, Foodera aims to help customers navigate that transition. The new combination is expected to strengthen innovation, digitalisation and service capabilities.

According to Gerardo Chiaia, Foodera Technologies should expect to strengthen in innovation, digitization and global service.

Notably, the individual brand names will remain. Kiremko, Tummers, Van der Giessen, Idaho Steel and Reyco will continue to operate as recognisable specialist brands in the market. This suggests the group is primarily focused on creating synergies behind the scenes, while preserving the strong reputations of the individual companies.

For the potato industry, Foodera sends a clear signal. As processing operations continue to grow in scale and complexity, the suppliers serving the sector are evolving in the same direction. The market increasingly demands integrated processing solutions supported by global expertise and service.
