HZPC aims for connection with Potato Days Live

The annual Potato Variety Presentation Days are a leading event in the potato industry, where potato professionals from around the world come together to experience the latest potato varieties. As organizing a get-together has become challenging during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, HZPC is among the several companies that have chosen to use the opportunities of the digital domain, to offer connection to interested parties. Because of this virtual event setup, potato professionals from anywhere in the world can participate, from the comfort of their own home.

New ways to connect

As networking and making connections are key elements of this industry event, HZPC focuses on creating and maintaining relationships with its event themed “Let’s connect”. ‘With Potato Days Live, we present a new way to connect. A unique digital potato experience for all our growers, customers, partners and other potato professionals and enthusiasts. We come together in our virtual studio, talk about the latest developments, surprise our partners with inspiring presentations and of course present our most important varieties’, explains Patrick Overwijk, communication manager at HZPC.

Contributing to global food supply

On Wednesday November 4th, speakers including Pedro Sousa (Director Global Quality Systems – Agricultural Products at McDonald’s Corporation) and CEO of HZPC Holding Gerard Backx will share the experiences companies are going through because of COVID-19, looking for opportunities to support and strengthen each other. During the event, HZPC growers and partners will also be able to discuss how to make a bigger contribution to the global food supply. Other topics on the agenda are circular agriculture, the relationship between potatoes and microbiomes, cooperation in the potato sector, potato varieties that can grow anywhere, etcetera.

Dutch potato breeding company HZPC awarded Royal designation

On Monday February 27^th, the day that HZPC celebrated its 125th anniversary, the Dutch potato breeding company was presented the Royal designation by the King’s Commissioner for the Dutch province of Friesland, Arno Brok. The company also unveiled the new Royal HZPC Group logo, including the Royal Crown.
