November 08, 2022

Lutosa, a member of the McCain Group, officially inaugurated its new potato flakes factory in Leuze-en-Hainaut (Wallonia, Belgium) on November 3rd, 2022.

According to the producer and seller of a wide range of frozen chips and potato specialties, the new, fully integrated facility represents a 45 million euro investment by McCain in this strategic segment. With this investment the group aims to meet the growing global demand for dehydrated products, a field in which it has specialized for more than 30 years.

Improving environmental impact

Lutosa, originally a Belgian family business, reports that the investment will also significantly improve working conditions for employees and increase its product range. Furthermore, in line with the company’s CSR strategy, 10 percent of the total investment is dedicated to improving the environmental impact. ‘This new unit will allow for a 15 percent improvement in energy efficiency, a 40 percent reduction in water consumption, and a reduction in truck traffic’, the company states.
