PotatoEurope 2025: Trial Fields Showcase Practical Innovation in Potato Cultivation

June 18, 2025

At PotatoEurope 2025, the trial fields will once again take centre stage as a highlight of the event. On September 3 and 4, visitors will have a unique opportunity to witness first-hand how fifteen leading companies bring their expertise to life in the field.

These specially prepared plots will feature a wide range of current and innovative cultivation trials, spanning from seed potatoes to table varieties, and from French fries to starch potatoes. Each field has been meticulously designed to reflect different growing conditions and strategies, including variations in fertilisation, tuber initiation, crop protection, and storage preparation.

Well-known names

Among the participating companies are well-known names such as Soiltech, Certis Belchim, Solana, Nufarm, Kreglinger Europe NV, HZPC, BASF, Restrain Company Ltd, Agrico, Schaap Holland B.V., Corteva, Bayer CropScience SA-NV, STET Holland B.V., Averis, and Bionext. Each company will demonstrate its own approach, offering visitors a comprehensive and up-to-date view of the latest developments in the potato sector.

The trial fields are not only a place to gather knowledge but also serve as a living laboratory, where practical application takes priority.

Kuno Jacobs, director of organiser DLG Benelux, expresses great confidence and enthusiasm about the upcoming edition. He confirms that the trial and demonstration fields were planted on schedule and are developing very well. The scale and interest in the event also signal its continued relevance and strength. “We are proud to announce that the exhibition is fully booked, with more than 300 exhibitors from sixteen countries,” Jacobs says. “The response has been overwhelming, and we expect around 15,000 visitors. This year’s edition promises to be richer in content than ever before. As always, PotatoEurope is about connecting people, sharing knowledge, and putting innovation into practice.” As in previous editions, the focus will be on knowledge sharing, innovation, and practical experience. This will be realised through live demonstrations in harvesting and storage, indoor and outdoor exhibitions, extensive trial plots, a scientific symposium, and the presentation of the prestigious Innovation Award.

Meeting point

PotatoEurope 2025 further strengthens its position as the international meeting point for the entire potato value chain. The trial fields are not only a place to gather knowledge but also serve as a living laboratory, where practical application takes priority. Whether it’s about new potato varieties, sustainable growing techniques, or advanced storage solutions, the latest innovations will be visible and tangible in the field.

Annual event

PotatoEurope is an annual event that rotates among four major potato-growing countries: the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, and France. With its unique combination of demonstrations, exhibitions, and networking opportunities, the trade fair offers a dynamic platform where technology, expertise, and collaboration come together. In 2025, the Netherlands will once again host this leading event, welcoming professionals from across the globe for two days of innovation, inspiration, and connection in the world of potatoes.
