PotatoEurope Innovation Awards 2021 to continue

August 13, 2021

Though PotatoEurope 2021 is cancelled, the event organisation together with media partner PotatoWorld magazine decided to still hand out the Innovation Awards.

As it was announced that the international sector event cannot take place this year due to corona, it quickly became clear that it would still be of great importance to pay attention to the innovations to originally be presented at the trade fair. It was therefore decided to still award the PotatoEurope Innovation Awards 2021 on September 1st, and to give potato professionals worldwide a chance to vote online for the accompanying Audience Award.

Three contenders

More than thirty companies saw the PotatoEurope Innovation Awards as the perfect opportunity to put their innovations in the spotlight. “The inventiveness among the entries was superb and there were some surprising ideas among them. We reviewed all innovations with great interest, but also with a critical eye,” the jury states. Out of all submissions, the expert jury has now selected three companies that they believe offer the most innovative product or service. Based on three criteria, namely innovativeness, potential impact in the potato market and applicability in the potato industry, the jury came up with a top three of contenders. In alphabetical order, these are’s Nucrop, EGG’s Microtubers and HZPC’s Smart Bigbag.

Vote for the Audience Award

While the professional jury will award three Innovation Awards (Gold, Silver and Bronze), throughout August the general public can vote online to determine which of these three participants will receive the Audience Award. To give the voting potato professionals a clear idea of their innovation, each of the top three companies provided a video pitch. These pitches can now be viewed online, after which viewers can directly vote for their favorite innovation and have a chance to win great prizes.
