The World Potato Congress (WPC) 2022 looks forward to welcoming potato professionals to Dublin.
The event to be held from May 30 – June 2 is themed ‘The Changing World of the Potato’. Visitors may expect interesting congress sessions and inspirational speakers, engaging networking events and exhibition space, poster sessions, technical tours and many more activities.
According to the event organisers, it’s time to reconnect with colleagues, to learn how the potato industry has developed over the past few years and what challenges and exciting new opportunities are there to discover. Over 60 speakers across various industry sectors including have been confirmed to present at WPC 2022. To get to know who the speakers are and decide what session you wish to attend while in Dublin, the organisation has prepared a clear programme overview.
The organisation also announced that the Irish government and its Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine, is committed to supporting WPC 2022. ‘Ireland is a committed partner with the UN Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) to help achieve the common goal of improving food security and nutrition for all; to find new and better ways to promote sustainable agriculture; and to achieve multiple Sustainable Development Goals’, a statement reads. To support these aims and provide a voice from developing countries, the Irish government provides grant support for up to fifty delegates from developing countries with an active potato sector to attend the WPC on Dublin. ‘The WPC is the premier potato congress with representatives from business, science and development sectors’, the statement continues.
