Chinese Deputy Minister to lead UN Food and Agriculture Organisation

Qu Dongyu, the Chinese Deputy Minister of Agricul­ture, was elected as the new head of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations (UN). The term of the ninth Director-General, who succeeds the Brazilian José Graziano da Silva, will run until 31 July 2023, after which a one-time extension is possible.
