Raquel Izquierdo de Santiago will be the new Secretary General of the European lobbyist organisation Europatat.
Raquel Izquierdo de Santiago will be the new Secretary General of the European lobbyist organisation Europatat. She succeeds Frederic Rosseneu, who left for the Belgian multinational Univeg on 1 October. The Spanish Izquierdo de Santiago has worked in Brussels for the past fifteen years, nine years of which as Director, Food Policy, Health and Nutrition at Freshfel. This is the European trade organisation for fruit and vegetables. In addition, she was also Deputy General of the World Apple and Pear Association (WAPA). The Secretary General herself is very much a fan of potatoes. Spanish tortilla de patatas is her favourite dish, she says. In order to have more consumers eat potatoes, Izquierdo de Santiago wants to devote a great deal of attention to the promotion of the potato, hereby emphasising the special nutritional value of this healthy food. The subject will definitely be on the agenda of the next Europatat conference, she promised solemnly. ●
