Wageningen scientists unravel how Phytophthora infestans sharpens its weapons

After a team of researchers at Wageningen University & Research (WUR) last year discovered how the cells of Phytophthora infestans attack the plant by slicing open its skin, it was still unknown how these microscopic attackers sharpen their weapons. WUR reports that a multidisciplinary research team has now solved this mystery.
