‘Our most important variety news is that the Boston and Monza varieties will be on the variety list in January. Due to the great interest for these varieties we are now planning the market introduction. We think that these varieties are a good addition to our existing portfolio’, shares TPC.
‘Boston is a round oval red-skinned breed with special characteristics such as drought and heat tolerance and therefore does very well in the continental climate and countries such as Israel and Morocco.
Monza is an oval white-fleshed white-skinned variety with, just like Boston, drought and heat tolerance with the unique characteristics of high underwater weight and good fries for the processing industry. We think this is very important because the demand for potato varieties for processing outside Europe is increasing, especially in the Middle East and North Africa.’
‘In our opinion the search for varieties with higher disease resistances such as Phytophthora due to the threat of loss of permitted crop protection products will never end. TPC will never stop improving her variety portfolio’, emphasises TPC.
