Potato diseases book

Due to its great success, the Potato diseases book is reprinted and added to our range of professional literature again.

This edition of Potato Diseases was written on the initiative of Aardappelwereld b.v.. A reference work of this type is of great significance, because experts with a broadly-integrated knowledge of the many different potato diseases have become rare. Practical problems, on the other hand, have become increasingly complex. Considerable gaps are experiented in the prevailing knowledge about pests and diseases and how they should be treated. This book helps to fill these gaps.

Everyone involved in cultivating potatoes can benefit from this unique publication, made possible with the cooperation of dedicated people with practical knowledge and experience who know better than anyone what information is important. A particularly unique aspect is that this book consists of knowledge from a world of expertise that is slowly disappearing. This is knowledge of scientists focused on studying pests and diseases from practical experience; the wisdom of broadly-oriented potato experts.

Compared to the previous edition, the number of topics dealt with has considerably increased. In a few cases, it concerns pests and diseases which are rarely or never found in Europe. However, when established, they could thrive well in this region. A glimpse into the future? Fear of what might lie ahead for the potato farmer? Practical experience? Unfortunately, there are ample examples of pests and diseases that were brought into areas where they were unknown and where their unfamiliarity subsequently offered them an opportunity to establish and spread. On the principle that “knowledge leads to understanding, understanding to better judgment and better judgment to appropriate action”, the authors have provided more background information in this book. The text is further supported by clear photographs.
