Europatat opens registrations for 2023 congress

The organisation reveals that, under the slogan “The Changing Geopolitical Landscape and the Future for Potato Trade”, this year’s edition of the congress will explore the impact of current geopolitics for international agri-food trade. The effect of the goals of the European Union’s Green Deal on potato trade inside and outside of Europe as well as the latest Polish potato sector’s developments are also on the agenda during this annual gathering of the European potato community.

Substantive discussions

‘Currently, we are the second largest producer of potatoes in the European Union and the potato industry has a significant share in Polish food production, which annual turnover reaches several billion zlotys’, says President of the Polish Potato Federation Tomasz Bieńkowski, who is very excited to bring the Europatat Congress to Poland for the first time ever. Europatat President Tigran Richter expects the Congress to provide ‘a lot of substantive discussions for colleagues around Europe and beyond on the future of the potato trade given the current geopolitical and economic constraints’.

Working programme and social events

On Monday June 5, Europatat members will review the activities of the association during meetings of its five Commissions (Consumption potatoes, Seed potatoes, Sustainability, Technical and Regulatory issues, and RUCIP). On the morning of Tuesday June 6, the Europatat General Assembly will take place. Later that day, the public session of the Congress will assess the state of play of the potato sector and discuss the priorities and challenges facing the potato business in Europe and beyond. Besides the professional working programme, the Europatat Congress offers several social events, where participating companies and organisations can present themselves to Europatat’s network of industry leaders and decision makers. European Potato Trade Association Europatat reports that the 2023 edition of its annual congress has been a successful event for the European potato community. The association reports that over 100 participants from more than 14 different European and non-European countries took part in the Europatat Contress 2023, co-organised by the Polish Potato Federation.
