‘Due to the rapidly growing sales market, we need more potatoes’

March 2022

‘Due to the rapidly growing sales market, we need more potatoes. In order to compensate for the sharply rising cultivation costs for our growers and to keep the cultivation of potatoes profitable, we have to substantially increase the contract prices for the next harvest year, and that’s what we’re going to do. In addition, we’ll be introducing a new type of index contract in collaboration with our growers committee’, emphasises Dick Zelhorst, Chief Agro & Supply Chain Officer of the Aviko Group, who looks at the potato chain from ‘Farm to Fork’. In ‘his’ part of the potato chain, Zelhorst sees that the market is recovering better than expected after corona.
